Indiana crop progress for week ending June 7

There were 6.2 days suitable for fieldwork in Indiana for the week ending June 7, according to the National Agricultural Statistics Service, U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Topsoil moisture supply was rated 7% very short, 17% short, 68% adequate, and 8% surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated 6% very short, 16% short, 73% adequate, and 5% surplus.

Corn planted reached 94%, compared to 92% last year, and the five-year average of 95%. Corn emerged reached 80%, compared to 79% last year, and the five-year average of 83%. Corn condition was rated 3% very poor, 11% poor, 29% fair, 51% good, and 6% excellent.

Soybeans planted reached 93%, compared to 89% last year, and the five-year average of 90%. Soybeans emerged reached 76%, compared to 73% last year, and the five-year average of 75%. Soybean condition was rated 3% very poor, 10% poor, 32% fair, 50% good, and 5% excellent.

Winter wheat headed reached 91%, compared to 88% last year, and the five-year average of 92%. Winter wheat condition was rated 2% very poor, 4% poor, 28% fair, 53% good, and 13% excellent.

Pasture and range conditions were rated 1% very poor, 5% poor, 28% fair, 58% good, and 8% excellent.
