National FFA Convention returns to Indy

Ten tips to make the most of the event

Up to 70,000 people are expected to attend the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis later this month.

INDIANAPOLIS — More than 65,000 people are coming to Indianapolis for the 97th National FFA Convention & Expo.

The theme of the Oct. 23-26 convention is “Engage.” Members can engage in leadership activities, volunteer opportunities and make memories at this year’s event.

Here are a few tips to make the most of the convention:

1. Stay connected. Download the National FFA Events app and follow the National FFA Organization’s Facebook page and @NationalFFA on Instagram.

2. Connect with other members. Sit with someone you don’t know. The convention is a perfect time to make friends and get out of your comfort zone.

3. Check out the Expo, where you can meet industry representatives from more than 300 vendors and learn about new career opportunities. Don’t be afraid to ask questions.

4. Browse the Shop FFA Mega Store for FFA merchandise. The store is inside Halls D-E in the Indiana Convention Center. Nearby, visit the FFA Shopping Mall with multiple vendors from around the country.

5. Attend a few general sessions. If you can’t attend in person, check out the free streaming sessions on “FFA Live!” Live broadcasts of each general session, Finals Hall presentations, historical footage and more will be streamed. Learn more at convention.ffa.org.

6. Learn from featured speakers. Keynote guests Temple Grandin and Kevin Wanzer will speak at this year’s convention.

7. Volunteer. National Days of Service is the perfect time to help those in need. Volunteer opportunities are available across the country.

8. Attend workshops. Check out the leadership and personal growth workshops.

9. Take photos and post them to social media to share your story.

10. Take in the talent. Whether it’s the National FFA Band and Chorus or the FFA talent show, check out the organization’s amazing gifts.
