Indiana FFA celebrates wins at national convention

The 98th National FFA Convention & Expo has come to a close after welcoming a record-breaking 73,000-plus attendees from across the country to downtown Indianapolis.

INDIANAPOLIS — Three Indiana FFA members took home notable awards at the National FFA Convention & Expo.

Ellie Taylor of Hamilton Southeastern FFA received an Agricultural Proficiency Award in agricultural communication.

Taylor oversees her chapter’s social media accounts, website and print media. She has developed many skills related to agricultural communications that she plans to utilize in her future career in that field.

Maggie Taylor of Perry Central FFA received an Agricultural Proficiency Award in outdoor recreation. Taylor would like to be an interpretive naturalist.

Taylor worked at O’Bannon Woods State Park Nature Center to help others with game laws, natural resource management and historical preservation laws.

Janellyn Fisher of Tri-West FFA Chapter won the National Agricultural Education Invitational. At the event, she demonstrated exceptional teaching skills, followed a lesson plan and demonstrated excellent communication skills.

In total, 100 Indiana FFA members competed at the National FFA Convention in a variety of Career Development and Leadership Development events.
