Nutrient stewardship field day Sept. 15

HAMMOND, Ill. — The 4R Field Day Alliance will host an event in Piatt County on Sept. 15. The nutrient stewardship field day will be on the Eric Miller farm near Hammond, beginning at 8:30 a.m.

“The field day is free, and lunch will be provided. We’ll be showing off the latest and greatest of what’s going on in the fertilizer industry in the area of nutrient management practices,” said Kevin Johnson, Illinois Fertilizer and Chemical Association president.

A right source, right rate, right time and right place update will kick off the field day with Corey Rosenbusch, The Fertilizer Institute president and CEO, and Brittany Loewen, sales leader — nutrient maximizers at Corteva Agriscience.

Tour and demonstration topics and presenters are: 2022 Crop Year Challenges and Victories, Emerson Nafziger; Overview of Research Site, Lowell Gentry; Soil Warrior Strip-till Demonstration, Environmental Tillage Systems; and Precision Planter and Yetter Anhydrous Ammonia Applicator, Eric Miller and Dan Schaefer.

Following lunch, there will be a roundtable discussion and questions related to 4R practices on the farm with Gentry, Miller, Nafziger and Schaefer.

Free continuing education units will be available for certified crop advisers.

The event is sponsored by the 4R Field Day Alliance of Mosaic, The Fertilizer Institute, Soil Warrior, Environmental Tillage Systems and Corteva Agriscience and in conjunction with IFCA and the Illinois Nutrient Research and Education Council.

Call IFCA at 309-827-2774 or email Johnson at kj@ifca.com with questions or to register. If rain is forecast for the event, check IFCA’s Facebook page for details of a possible change of location.
