From the Fields: Rain provides a vital boost

Brandon Wessels

For our operation, we have been really fortunate with rainfall. We’ve had a lot of rain, but our drowned-out areas are minimal. We have a couple of spots that are drowned out, but overall we are looking pretty good.

We were dry for a while, but we got 1.5 inches of rain about a week ago. That last rain was much needed and perfect timing. With that rain came wind that blew some of our sweet corn over, but that corn has perked up and it is still growing.

Soybeans are made in August, so as long as the rain does not shut off, I think we will be OK — so far, so good.
