Indiana farmers visit Colombia

Meat travels from Indiana farms to Colombian grocery stores

CARTAGENA, Colombia — A group of Indiana corn and soybean growers traveled to Colombia to assess the progress of checkoff-funded projects.

The checkoff projects are managed by the U.S. Meat Export Federation, the U.S. Soybean Export Council and the USA Poultry and Egg Export Council. The group also toured grocery stores and food processors in Colombia.

“It was nice to speak with the exporters and see their challenges and successes in Colombia,” said Jenna Scott, farmer and Indiana Soybean Alliance board member from Gaston.

“As far as U.S. meat in the grocery stores go, there is a very strong presence here. Everyone had positive things about the products and the quality of the meat they receive.”
